Barely 12 years old, Marti received an invitation to test a single-seater for the first time! This invitation came from Procar-Motorsport and Peter Schober. The car was Dallara from Formula ADAC Masters, based on their F3 car. It has 1.6l VW engine with 145 hp, 5-speed Hewland sequential gearbox, and a weight of 490 kg.
For insurance reasons, most racing circuits around Europe don’t allow drivers below 14 to drive. That’s why the test took place on an improvised track on the airfield of Trenchin, Slovakia. Obviously, the grip levels on the airport were quite poor, but on the other hand, there was a lot of run-off space which Marti took as a chance to explore the limits of the car.
As usual, Marti was right on his maximum attack mode right from the get-go showing no hesitation whatsoever to push the car. Peter Schober was quite impressed by his fearless approach and noticed that Marti is driving like someone with 10 years of experience in single-seaters!
During the whole time, Marti was pushing, sliding, and manipulating the car in his quest to find the limit, which led to 3 spins that had no effect on his confidence. From beginning to the end, Marti was pushing to the limit!
This first test in a single-seater was very enjoyable for Marti, but also it was quite satisfactory for his family because it means that the family’s investment, efforts, and sacrifices are paying off!
