On February 12th Marti once again on the Circuit Castelletto had a test with Legends Car, but this time he wasn’t the only such car on track. This time there were more than 10 other Legends Car drivers from the championship.
The best time Marti had from his first test was 1:24.6, a lap very much interrupted by traffic, but this time Marti managed to lower his best by 2.6 seconds to 1:22.0! This was good enough for second, close behind the reigning Italian champion Luca Ferrario who was testing in a slightly different car with engine settings allowing for more top-end power.
Right at the end of the test the two of them had a little battle in which Marti managed to fight off Luca for several laps until he was cruise passed on the straight. But most importantly Marti was capable of being on Ferrario’s pace in the corners.
Everyone at Scuderia 13M was quite impressed by this and surprised how such a young driver can adapt so fast and be competitive in this not so easy to drive car. They think Marti will be capable of fighting for the top positions in the Italian championship which attracts grids of around 40 cars. Sadly, the age problem for Marti remains because there is a firm requirement on the big tracks like Monza or Mugello to be minimum of 14 y.o. to drive.
This test was quite important because it showed where are Marti’s strengths and gives a very positive and hopeful outlook for the upcoming season!
