This past weekend, Marti and fellow young Bulgarian driver Ivan Tochev from Mirafiori Team and BMW Club Bulgaria triumphed in the 2-hour Fun Boost endurance race at the Magny-Cours circuit!
For Marti, this marked his second participation in the race, following his podium debut in February 2022. For Ivan, it was his first time competing in such a race.
The day began with a 90-minute practice and qualification session. Marti demonstrated significant improvement from his last participation and promptly secured pole position! Despite being unfamiliar with the track and car, Ivan posted highly competitive times, giving the team hope for success.
The 2-hour race commenced at 14:30. Martin started from pole position, and the pace of the top three drivers was intense. The battle was fierce in the first 15 laps until Marti managed to break away.
Ivan then took over for his stint, showcasing remarkable progress with each lap. His lap times were very competitive, and he gained confidence navigating through traffic. During one of the pit stops, the car refused to start, causing the team to drop to 8th place while the issue was resolved.
When Marti returned to the track for the final stint, he drove at a qualifying pace, determined to make up for the lost time. He soon began setting lap times faster than his qualifying laps and maintained this pace throughout! He recorded the fastest lap just two laps before the finish, leading the team to victory!
Finally, this was a weekend without major car trouble, and Marti found his rhythm, improving his speed right to the end.
